The crew are in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, testing the ground. Despite some early setbacks and a disappointing lack of colour, Parker, Tyler, and Fred find multiple hefty nuggets after detecting tailings.
The group believes they have found gold and start cracking open a rock to investigate.
As they work, they notice the gold is getting smaller and smaller until they finally find a small nugget worth less than a hundred dollars. One of the group members expresses disappointment, as he had promised a 100% yield, and they had spent a lot of money on equipment for the operation.
They continue to vacuum up dirt and concentrate to find more gold. They use a dry blower and find some tiny pieces of gold. Parker, the team leader, then decides to spread out the coarse rock to see if they can detect any more nuggets.
Eventually, they find a sizable nugget worth around $2,000, and they collect 28 smaller nuggets, totaling 2.4 ounces.
Despite not breaking even on their costs, Parker recognizes the ground in Australia is more than three times richer than the ground he usually mines in the Yukon and sees the opportunity for future prospecting.
